Advanced Yoga Teacher Training

Training Overview

Do you want to take your teaching and life to the next level?  To go deeper?  To broaden your range?  To learn among an inspired community of other teachers, creatives, and seekers who crave more?

Artful teaching is your willingness to reach into the depths of your heart to find the words, the trust, and the courage to offer experiences that move, enrich and transform people’s lives.

This 300-hour nondogmatic and heart-centered training is designed for the full-time yoga teacher in mind, or the yoga-lifer who loves teaching and wants to keep growing and sharing.  We understand your heart’s desire to know more about this discipline that has shaped so much of who you are today, and to deepen or learn new practices to make you more vibrant and full.

Whether you choose to delve into the entire program or pick among the six specialty content-based modules, this training will have you walk away feeling more confident in your ability to share what you love in your own organic way.  Plus, you’ll leave with lifelong tools to accelerate your vision for work and life. You’ll rejuvenate your love for your practice, and develop a strong, self-supporting confidence to elevate your teaching and build a creative life that is healthy and thriving.

This training combines inquiry (personal development and reflection) with an investigation (exploration of new concepts, modalities, and resources) so that you come away:

  • ROOTED in what you know
  • EXPRESSIVE of who you are
  • SOULFUL in holding space
  • DIVERSIFIED in what you offer
  • EMPOWERED to share your gifts

Module 1 | Rooted

ROOTED | October 23-27, 2017 | Dance Definition Academy, Chicago, IL | Special Guests: Jessica Carlin & Sean Johnson

As yoga teachers, we serve the community with a non-dogmatic approach to yoga: an approach that empowers students to move and explore in a variety of ways. This encourages freedom in body, mind and heart for every student who steps on a mat, takes a seat, or just breathes in their life. To share such a vision is a responsibility of the teacher to be at his/her best, and that comes when you are ROOTED in yourself: to be ROOTED in who we are, what we offer and why we share the things we do

As teachers, we have the opportunity to transform our students’ experience through our words, our ability to hold a safe and sacred space and our intentional themes and sequences.  When we tap into the rhythm of silence and conversation, we are honoring language as creative power and harness the complementary skill of deep listening.  Speaking from our heart depends on our willingness to trust in our word, to mean what we say, to walk our talk.  When we are able to speak from an authentic and grounded place, the more technical aspects of teaching flow more seamlessly.

EXPRESSIVE celebrates our ability to trust in the ways we use verbal and nonverbal communication to make indelible connections with our students and community.

soulful | MARCH 12-16, 2018 | Chicago, IL

One of the great values of teaching is to support people to feel their most whole and happy with the ability to skillfully navigate the demands of everyday life.  When we can include the more subtle practices of yoga into our own experiences and understanding, then we can impart that as part of our teaching. We can enrich the experience for our students and empower them to live better off the mat as well.

In SOULFUL, we dive deep into the study of teaching with purpose by practicing the subtler aspects of yoga such as meditation, pranayama, and energy and deepening our teaching using a more SOULFUL approach.

diversified | may 14-18, 2018 |  Chicago, IL

Throughout the ages, Yogis were innovators.  Yoga is a rich and complex lineage of teachings, practices and dialogues which are reflected in modern yoga.  While we may gravitate toward specific practices that speak to our bodies and minds, learning about the many innovations, technologies and systems of yoga can help us develop appreciation, respect and understanding for all the diverse possibilities that exist to diversify our practice, teaching and lives.

To be DIVERSIFIED is to value tolerance, spaciousness, and acceptance of all preferences.  To be DIVERSIFIED, we must explore and study yoga, other modalities and life in a non-dogmatic way.  To be DIVERSIFIED, we must learn to safely and respectfully share the knowledge we acquire with our students.

empowered | JUly 23-27, 2018 | Chicago, IL

By choosing to teach, we have chosen to be of service.  To show up, let go of our own agenda, listen to the needs of our students and offer a safe and sacred space for healing.  When we teach, we have the opportunity to encourage students to listen, not to us, but to their own inner wisdom, to move and breathe in a way that assists them in finding strength, acceptance and balance.  We say what needs to be said and hold space for what needs to be felt.  We support students to respond with calm, kindness and reverence to their bodies.  When we teach from an EMPOWERED place, we create a space where true healing can occur.

Module 6 | evolving

BookswithStatue.jpg

Evoloving | september 24-29, 2018 |  Chicago, IL

As teachers, our most important contribution to our work is that we stay committed students.  We must seek out teachers, resources and communities that feed our work, our vision, our sense of integrity in all we do.  We must set time aside to study, observe, and create.  And, the reality is, that's sometimes hard to do.  In order to keep EVOLVING as teachers, we have to figure out our own unique way to juggle our home life, our social life, our work life and our creative life.

In EVOLVING we get honest with where we're at right now, where we want to be in the future and we devise a clear path to get there.  This module is designed to help generate creative momentum, create accountability and solidify a sustainable work/life balance.
